Clinical Practice Committee

The AuSPEN Clinical Practice Committee aims at setting standards to support core project groups of interest and relevance to the society and fraternity of dietetics in Australia and New Zealand. We aim to do this by :

  • Clinical guideline development and overseeing third party guideline development

  • Endorsement, interpretation and adaptation of existing evidence-based practice, guidelines and dissemination of resources.

  • Facilitation and development of the clinical guidelines, pathways, resources, optimal care pathways and position statements.

Roles of the committee are to:

  • Advise and discuss with AuSPEN areas of potential interest requiring guideline development and expert oriented standards of care.

  • Create and facilitate committee structures to enable robust guideline development plans and strategies and associated activities.

  • Evaluate best evidence-based practice across the region to inform sound guidance and supportive tools that enhance care that can be implemented at the clinical and community level.

  • Survey and audit stakeholders and relevant participants on current practices that may potentially benefit and improve from a guideline or care pathway to improve care, safety, and quality.

  • Develop a structure to foster advocacy on governance-focused activities supporting and facilitating optimal standards of care policy and procedures to improve care and quality of life.
