Paediatric Committee

The purpose of the AuSPEN paediatric committee is to promote and support best practice in paediatric nutrition support in Australia and New Zealand. The committee is focused on providing the multidisciplinary paediatric community and members of the public with accurate and timely nutrition communications on key nutrition topics and clinical nutrition resources, training and education opportunities delivered by experts.  

Roles of the committee are to:

  • Provide expert consultation and advocacy that informs the strategic direction of paediatrics within AuSPEN

  • Develop paediatric specific clinical guidelines to support enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy

  • Lead and support clinical research in paediatric parenteral and enteral nutrition

  • Publish AuSPEN Position Statements on topics relating to paediatric nutrition therapy  

  • Develop and deliver high quality and accessible professional education and training opportunities

  • Develop and publish clinical nutrition resources and toolkits to enhance clinical practice

Paediatric Sub-Committees:  

The paediatric sub-committee projects have been aligned under the agreed key roles of the group. Current sub-committees and responsibilities are:

o   Management of Jejunostomy Feeds

·      Emerging diet therapies

o   Blended Tube Feeds (BTF)

o   Dietary treatment of Crohn’s Disease (CD)
